Andover New Street

Velocity Wessex League Premier Division – Saturday 20th April 2024

Shaftesbury vs Andover New Street

⛱️ Rockies View

So, the league season closes as we win three away games in a row 2-1 and now nine on the spin. At the time of writing we know what the outcome will be with regards to the play offs, so here’s the scenario.
If we win against Andover New Street we will have 93 points. That is all we can do as it’s out of our hands. We will entertain AFC Portchester on Wednesday 24th April here in the play off semi final. A win on Saturday would also mean the team would have won ten in a row.
If AFC Stoneham win at AFC Portchester (who ironically were held 0-0 by Andover New Street), they will be runners up and face either Portland United, Baffins Milton Rovers or Brockenhurst at the HP Arena.
If AFC Stoneham draw they will have 93 points yet have a goal difference of 103 compared to our 68. Even Jim Milligan couldn’t manage a 36-0 win over Andover New Street! They won’t be here to make up the numbers. We will need to be on the money to win the game.

📝Our Opponents/ Recent Form

Andover New Street held AFC Portchester to an impressive 0-0 draw on Saturday in the ‘Royals’ backyard. They sit 14th on 36 points and have had a steady first season back in the Velocity Wessex League Premier Division after going down in 2018/19.
Since defeating Petersfield Town 3-2 on the 3rd February they have only won once in 12 games with a 1-0 win over AFC Portchester at Foxcotte Park with Lewis Williams scoring a 93rd minute winner.
They have drawn 2-2 at Cowes Sports yet lost 3-0 at home three times to AFC Stoneham, Portland United and Laverstock & Ford, 2-0 to Baffins Milton Rovers, 2-1 at Sherborne Town, 5-1 away to Moneyfields and 3-1 at home, 1-0 to Hamble Club and 2-1 to Christchurch also at home. Despite recent form they have done well to consolidate at Step 5.
🎯 Marksmen – Ross Cook 13, Shane Lock 13, Lewis Williams 7, Layton Tulk 5, Scott Hassell 4, Malachi Dotse 4, Michael Davis 4.
♠️ Aces In The Pack – Shane Lock and Ross Cook have 26 goals between them. Scott Hassell the experience at the back and 7 goal Lewis Williams looked very impressive in our 3-1 win at Foxcotte Park in December.
Former Bemerton Heath Harlequins player Layton Tulk and of course the skills of Claudio Jose Da Herbert are known to ‘Rockies’ fans before he joined Andover New Street.
