A trip to the Cams Alders on a cold, wet and windy Tuesday night in January is the equivalent of the much touted phrase ‘can they do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?’. That is the question.
It’s games like these that can make or break a teams season. Unfortunately it was another fruitless visit there this time in awful weather conditions much worse than on the day than the initial postponement on January 27th.
We are not in the business of making excuses or discrediting our opponents, though I will say the late postponement of the games at Hythe and Dibden and this one before were disappointing as the result here tonight.
We were without Louis Kellaway tonight who had made an impact on Saturday with Liam Farrugia still suspended. Tyson Pollard started his second game after making his debut against Blackfield & Langley.
Cameron Sullivan put the ‘Creeksiders’ ahead early in the 12th minute cutting in to open the scoring. Brett Pitman levelled in the 40th minute after an Eddie Perrett throw in was flicked on by Asa Philips for the striker to finish his 47th goal of the season past Jordi Valero.
Fareham went ahead once again from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute through Jamie Hoskings for the 14th place hosts. We could not get level on a very disappointing night for our title challenge with AFC Portchester and Moneyfields winning we can only hope dame fortune will turn in our favour again.
