Friendly match

Shaftesbury 7  Bournemouth 1

A hastily arranged friendly saw the ‘Rockies’ face fellow Velocity Wessex League Premier Division side Bournemouth who had put up a good showing in their 3-1 defeat here in August.

This was a game where gametime and minutes in legs were essential after recent postponements and with the ‘Poppies’ all set to play in the league and opportunity to exercise the whole squad. The result didn’t matter a jot and Brett Pitman took to the stands as spectator along with the injured Luke Holmes with physio Harry Vickery doing his work.

Steve Walker and Ash Wells started needing minutes with Steve Devlin taking the night off. Louis Kellaway and Liam Farrugia joined Harry Foden and three trialists on the bench.

We made a fast start with Eddie Perrett opening the scoring. Dan Bartlett was looking different gravy up top and hit a fine effort into the top corner with Ben Satterley side footing home the third soon after. Bartlett weighed in with another to make it 4-0 at half time.  Foden had replaced Shane Murphy in goal.

Asa Philips retired at the break with muscles worked with weather permitting an intense battle royale at Laverstock & Ford awaiting on Saturday. Liam Farrugia entered the fray with Aaron Roberts and the trialists as Jim Milligan and Luke Burbidge looked to get an overview on the whole picture.

Satterley blasted a fifth through the Bournemouth keeper before Trialist (18) spun on a six pence to make it 6-0.much to the delight of the small crowd.  Trialist (5) broke clear on the wing to drill in the seventh before Bournemouth replied with a well worked goal.

Shaftesbury were awarded a penalty for handball which Trialist (27) had saved. Bournemouth tried our an array of players and will have got something from tonight as well.
